There is no sound of Telugu movie at any Film Festival including the 59th National Film Awards. Are we such a useless industry where no artistic, realistic and heart- touching films are unmade? Have a look at the two sides of coin!
There is no ‘Rudra Veena’, no ‘Shankarabaranam’. Our industry’s big budgeted top grossing mega flicks are just about 3 dialogues, 4 fights, 5 songs and 6 records. Where are we heading? Time for Telugu filmmakers to introspect the quality of films we are delivering rather the quantity both as films and remunerations.
While other language movies are experimenting with content and that too with top-stars in the lead, Tollywood is still playing around with same stuff. Say it Ramcharan’s ‘Rachha’, Jr.NTR’s ‘Dammu’, Prabhas’ ‘Rebel’ or Balayya’s ‘Adhinayakudu’, all are mass-oriented commercial entertainers but not society up-lifting movies. But, our producers and distributors are saying that we are providing people with what they want, as ‘awards’ and ‘rewards’ don’t feed us. Is it filmmakers to change or is it people to change is a big challenge here. However, the same people had made movies like ‘Shankarabaranam’ run for 100 days smoothly!
