Samsung Fascinate Update
It is not sure whether VZW will ever install Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware for the Samsung Fascinate Smartphone. But, developers have invented an alternative way to install the same. It is now possible to update your Gingerbread powered Samsung Fascinate Smartphone with the latest Android Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware by following just a few simple steps.
Precautionary Measures:
- The device must be rooted. To check whether your device is rooted or not, you need to download the “Root Checker” app from the Google Play Store. The warranty of your device gets void once you root it.
- Backup all your data as it is always safe to have a copy of all your data in case it gets lost during the updating process. Use “SMS Backup and Restore app” and “Call Log and Restore”, copy the images, Songs, Files and videos to the internal or external SD card
- Enable USB debugging in your device.
- The minimum battery charge should be 50% so that device does not get turned off in the middle of the updating procedure.
- All the antivirus suites in your device should be disabled or uninstalled.
- Install the Samsung Dive in your device. Even if it is already installed, install it again
Steps to install Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware in Samsung Fascinate:
- First of all, you would need to download AOKP Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware Package and Google Apps Package to your PC.
- Then, connect your device with PC via the original USB cable and transfer both the zip files in your phone.
- Now, disconnect phone from PC and turn it off. This would make your phone enter the recovery mode. (Recovery mode could also be entered with the ROM Manager app which could be, in turn, downloaded from Google Play Store)
- For entering the recovery mode, press Volume Up and Volume Down keys simultaneously and then press the power button.
- While the device is in recovery mode, select “install zip from SD card>choose zip from SD card”. This would install both the files which you downloaded earlier.
Around 4-5 minutes later, your device will be updated. Reboot the device and do not panic if it takes longer than the normal time. As it is the first time device would get booted after the installation of the update, it is likely for the device to get stuck on Samsung or VZW logo. If it does so the switch off your device and reinsert its battery and follow the above steps again. To check whether the update procedure has been applied successfully or not, follow the path: “Settings” then go to “About Phone” and then tap to “Firmware Version”.
