Many of the unofficial updates have flooded the market recently. But that definitely benefits the users. So to provide you more benefits, we have bought CyanogenMod’s unofficial version for Motorola Photon 4G. The firmware is the latest version of Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and the credits of this goes to XDA well-known Developer ‘jokersax11’. We have no idea when Motorola is officially going to build the update. So we better to go with this rather than wait.
The update is featured with voice identification (similar to Siri from Apple), easy and simple Jellybean user-interface, smarter keyboard and many more. The update is yet a work-in-progress and so might have some bugs and will be definitely solved in the days following.
Precautions:
- The process of updating may wipe the memory and thus you must back up all the stuff present on your phone. One can take the backup of data individually for each type.
- The boot loader must be rooted and unlocked.
- At least 40% of the battery must be charged up so that the process gets completed without any interference.
- Follow: “Settings -> Development Options -> USB Debugging” and enable it.
Procedure to update Motorola Photon 4G with CyanogenMod 10 Jellybean 4.1 firmware:
- In your computer, download the following packages: ‘CM 10 Firmware Update’, ‘super User’, ‘Google Apps’ and ‘Recovery Zip’. After this connect the phone using USB to the computer and transfer the files you just downloaded.
- Disconnect and switch off the device so that it enters recovery mode. For this, open the app ROM manager and enter the device in required Recovery Mode. The app can be downloaded from Google PlayStore.
- Again go to the same app and select ‘Reboot in ClockWorkMod Recovery’ and flash the recovery image in the device.
- Once you are in recovery mode, select the option – ‘Install ZIP File from SDCard’ and then ‘Choose zip from SDcard’. After this select the CM 10 Firmware Update, Goole Apps, Super user and Recovery Zip in the exact order as given. The process ends after 4-5 minutes.
- If the Motorola device gets stuck in boot loop sequence, switch off the device (by removing and reinserting the battery) and follow the process from the very first point again.
By now the Motorola Photon 4G is successfully updated by CynaogenMod 10 Firmware Update.
