For checking the current version of the software in your device follow Settings ->About Phone -> Software Information, you can see all the information regarding your present software here like its PRI version, Kernel version, Build Number and any other required info.
For downloading the software update follow Settings -> System updates -> HTC software update -> Check now, now the device will check for the updates and will ask you to download and install the update. For completing the installation process your device may be required to switch off. If there is no software update available then your HTC EVO Design 4G will show a message “Your phone is up to date” and now you can return to your home screen.
