Do read the requirements and Notes before you go to method.
Requirements:
- USB Debugging: It is required that you have USB Debugging enabled in the phone. To do this, look for Applications option in the Settings menu. There, search for an option named Development and therefore ‘enable USB Debugging’.
- Battery: Your phone will be able to survive the procedure only if it has at least 40% charged battery.
- Anti-virus programs: You got to disable every security suite and anti-virus program installed in your computer as these disturb the installing process.
- Drivers: All the SONY Xperia ACRO S drivers must be installed in your computer which you will use during this process.
- Rooting: If you have used any of the firmwares earlier, you may know that these custom ROM firmwares will be installed if and only if your device is rooted and “Root checker” App (Google PLAY Store) will help you in checking the same.
- Backup: Installing this update will erase all the data and of course you don’t want the data on your phone to vanish. So as a precaution, keep a backup for all of it.
Note:
- This firmware can be only to devices with model name: SONY Xperia ARC. Trying it on some other device may lead to damage to the system.
- Rooting the device will void the warranty of your phone, which can be reclaimed when you apply the official firmware to your phone.
- Follow the process if and only if you understand everything being asked to do. Ask all the queries you have, we are happy to help.
- Any harm to your device during the installation is completely your responsibility and we are not to be blamed for any damage.
- While installing, if your device sticks to the SONY logo or elsewhere, restart it and repeat the steps.
Steps to install CM10 Firmware in SONY Xperia Acro S:
- Get the package: To install this firmware, you will first need its package – “Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware” in your smartphone. If you don’t have it, then download the same and transfer it to your device’s internal SDcard via USB cable. Also download “Google Apps” package.
- Enter Recovery mode: For this, switch Off the phone >> press Volume Up + Power key. This takes you to Recovery Mode via Boot Loader.
- Choose the package: Option – “Install Zip from SDcard” is to be selected and then select “Choose zip from SD card”. After this, select the downloaded zip file for CM 10 Firmware which was transferred to your phone after which you select the Google Apps package. The process may take about 5 minutes.
- Force close errors: The device will boot after the updating process is done. The first boot will take longer than usual as it updates all the system files. If you face any force close errors then reboot your device in Recovery Mode. There, select the option to “Wipe Data” and then “Clear cache”.
- Cross-check: to check if the process is completed successfully, select “About Phone” option in “Settings”. See the “firmware version” which must say Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Firmware.
